Decorating homes in Westerhope
Westerhope grew from a small village on the western edge of Newcastle into a large residential suburb, and the housing shows that history. Around the old village core there are older brick properties, while much of the surrounding area is made up of semi-detached and terraced houses from the middle of the twentieth century, plus bungalows and later infill. Chapel House and Chapel Park add estates of more modern family homes, many now due their first proper redecoration.
In mid-century semis the common jobs are practical: ceilings with fine cracks that need filling before painting, hallways and stairs scuffed by family life, and doors and skirting boards glossed many times over. Careful sanding and the right undercoat matter here, and our woodwork painting focuses on that preparation so the finish lasts. Newer estate homes tend to have plain plastered walls, which suit fresh emulsion or a feature wall to break up open-plan spaces.
Westerhope sits on higher ground west of the city, so walls, fascias and fences take plenty of wind and rain over winter. Exterior work is best planned between late spring and early autumn, when masonry has time to dry before painting. Many homes have rendered or pebble-dashed sections that need cleaning and checking for loose patches before a breathable masonry paint goes on. Being local lets us watch the weather and pick our days well.
We also help landlords freshen rental homes in the area between tenancies, using durable, easy-clean finishes that stand up to everyday wear and keep the property looking well cared for.
